Experience

Willie has worked in the finance industry in Jersey since 1978.Since 1984, he has specialised in dealing with the affairs of private clients connected to Southern Africa and has visited South Africa and Zimbabwe on more than 50 occasions.

Qualifications

Willie is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.

Personal and Professional Background

Willie was born in Jersey in 1957 and was educated at Victoria College and then at Portsmouth Polytechnic where he read Accountancy.

He joined the audit department of Turquands Barton Mayhew & Co in Jersey in 1978 during the sandwich year of his degree course and, after that firm had merged to become Ernst & Whinney, he qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1984 and then moved to the trust department. The firm merged again in 1988 to become Ernst & Young and Willie was appointed as a partner of the firm in 1992. He was accepted as a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners in 1995. The trust business of Ernst & Young in Jersey was sold to Royal Bank of Canada (“RBC”) in 2000 and Willie was appointed as a director of RBC’s trust business at that time. He left RBC in 2006 to join several of his former RBC co-directors at Pentera.

Willie is married to Amanda and they have three children. In his spare time, Willie plays golf and hockey and enjoys watching all sports, but especially cricket.
